Koramangala and First Ganesh Chathurti

Posted on at

So yesterday I ventured by bus from Iskon Temple to Koramangala. I went to the first bus stop only to be told to walk 500m to another one. I knew it would take 2 buses and the guy who sent me to the second bus stop told me to take bus 80. When I asked for Koramangala the conductor would say Majestic. I didn't know Majestic was a bus terminal where I would catch a bus to Koramangala. After 3 80 buses passed a kind gentleman told me to take an 80A bus to Majestic then take  bus 171 to Koramangala from platform 14. This was my first time taking the bus in Bangalore and it was a similar experience as my first bus ride in Hyderabad. People were very kind and helpful in giving directions.

Buses in Bangalore are nicer and bus stops are easily identifiable. I didn't see any areas where people were just waiting at a particular spot that wasn't identified as a bus stop. Bus ride cost more than what I am used to but the distance was a lot. I finally met S after 2 months of FB chatting. We hung out at her place and she made green gram for dinner.

Today was my first Ganesh Chathurthi in India and I celebrated it in Bangalore with some of the Bangalore cohort. Day started out with making oats for breakfast then just hung out until it was time to go to Hole in the wall for brunch. I got to see C and N and also visit their place which is small but very homey. All the fellows have one induction burner that plugs in. So glad Hyderabad folks cook on 2 propane burners so if there is no light you can still cook.

C showed me an easy way of making chapati that I am eager to try out. It was yummy and we had it with the rest of the green gram. Later we went to a lake to watch Ganesh being dropped in a smallish man made lake or pond. Dinner was great well I only had sangria but was in good company. It is nice hanging with Bangalore fellows whom I haven't seen since orientation ended. Partly my fault since I didn't go to Ponducherry or Kerala with them.
