West Bengal Chief Minister and her Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal today demanded roll-back of demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes within three days. During a public rally at Azadpur mandi in Delhi, Mamata and Kejriwal both criticised Narendra Modi’s decision of putting a ban on Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes. Mamata and Kejriwal who had been opposing the Centre’s move on demonetisation since day 1, today gave an ultimatum to the government to withdraw the scheme in three days stating that the current demonetisation will take the country 100 years back. “The crisis of this proportion was not seen even during the Emergency,” Mamata said while addressing a huge crowd.
