Munnar is a town and slope station in the southwestern state of Kerala, India. Munnar is arranged around 1600 m above ocean level, in the Western Ghats scope of mountains. The name Munnar is accepted to signify "three streams", alluding to the area at the conjunction of the Madhurapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundaly waterways. Munnar town is arranged on the Kannan Devan Hills town in Devikulam taluk and is the biggest panchayat in the Idukki locale in Kerala having a territory measuring about 557 km².[citation needed] The closest significant route stations are at Ernakulam and Aluva (give or take 140 kilometers (87 mi) by street). The closest airplane terminal is Cochin International Airport, which is 105 kilometers (65 mi) away. The vast majority of the local verdure of Munnar have vanished because of extreme natural surroundings fracture resultant from the formation of the manors. Notwithstanding, a few species keep on surviing and flourish in a few ensured regions adjacent, including the new Kurinjimala Sanctuary to the east, the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary, Manjampatti Valley and the Amaravati store woodland of Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary to the north east, the Eravikulam National Park and Anamudi Shola National Park to the north, the Pampadum Shola National Park to the south and the proposed Palani Hills National Park
