Patience and Persistance

Posted on at

The two P's. If I don't learn anything else I will have at least learned the importance of patience and persistence. As an American you could say I expect things to be done at the allotted. I am not the most patient person and dislike waiting but waiting I know is inevitable. I have had a few issues with my flat since moving to Hyderabad. First one was I needed my mailbox key and intercom. I was told to go to the office and each time I went the story changed. First they tell me the owner needs to send them an email to hand over the mailbox keys. I relay the message to Priyanka and she send them the email from the owner. I return to the office and they say they haven't received such an email. I relay the information to Priyanka so she sends them another one. Then they said fill out a data sheet so I asked Priyanka whose information should I use. I used hers since she is the tenant on the lease. Then they ask for a picture and first thought is how will I get her passport picture from Deradhun? On a Sunday night a guy comes to my flat asking for a passport picture. So the next day I find the nearest photo studio that I can walk to and get my passport picture taken. Then I show up at the office to hand it in. I am told to come back in a half an hour. After 40 minutes I head back to the office, this time they call someone else and they go through the books. They find the data sheet I filled out with the flat owner's picture attached. Mind you I did not submit that picture. Then they show me the data sheet Priyanka filled out with me listed as an occupant. Then they tell me Priyanka as the tenant needs to send them an email. I relay the information to Priyanka and she requests the office phone number. I return to the office in order to get the number to give to her. Finally after she sent the email and speaking to them do I get the key and intercom.

Next I need the intercom set up and it is the same guy for the cable and wifi. I kept sending text messages without any luck. Since when I needed the wifi router set up I sent a text and the guy showed up hours later. I went to the office and they gave me a time for the next day. Next day when I return from Banjara Hills, no one shows up. I head back to the office and ask again. I kept getting the same result. I showed up yesterday and today after the gym being told someone would come. Today I was told by 2pm someone would come. At 2 pm I went to the office to inquire and this time the guy followed me to my flat to set up the intercom.

Sunday morning I woke up to no electricity. I figured ok maybe it is a black out. Pulled out my book and read all morning. Upon entering the kitchen I see my neighbors are watching. Then I realize I should head to the office. When I leave the flat I see that the power outage is just my flat. I head to the office and a guy shows up an hr later. Turns out the breaker is in the front room. He flipped the switched and all was well until about 6pm when it shut off again. Priyanka's brother was supposed to come to set up the wifi. I had to tell her that he shouldn't bother coming since I had no power. Of course the office is closed by 7 pm on a Sunday so I head to Vijetha's to buy biscuits when I should have bought tomatoes for my dal. At around 4am I get the electricity back on but it switched off. So after going to the gym on Monday I stop by the office which was closed. I tried to convey the problem to the guy who was outside the office. I went back in the afternoon to inquire again. After a few more hours of waiting I head back down and the electrician this time follows me to the flat to fix the problem. Apparently he came the day before but I didn't answer.

Now comes Blue Dart Courier. I missed the delivery on Thursday because who knew they deliver packages at night. I was already in Banjara Hills when they called because of the Sankalp Forum workshop the next morning. Luckily Arham was around for him to talk to the courier. It was established he would come on Sunday at 3pm. So I wasn't home Saturday at 3pm because I went shopping in Secunderabad. So some of you may figure it's my fault that it is Tuesday after 6 pm and I still haven't received the package. Sunday they supposedly tried again according to the online tracker but they could not deliver it. Sunday I realized where my phone was, it had no service for them to call me. Yesterday Apurva said it was out for delivery and I waited all day for it. Today I took the initiative and called Blue Dart. After calling 3x I got a customer service rep. They told me it would be delivered by 6 pm. It is 6:30 pm and I called the front gate to see if any courier arrived for B 10006 and surprise surprise the answer was no. Now to call Blue Dart to find out where this package is because I stayed in all day to wait for this package when I had planned to go grocery shopping.
