Powerful Chittorgarh

Chittorgarh  now a district of Rajasthan in modern India was once a powerful Kingdom. Bappa Rawal founder of Sisodia dynasty received Chittorgarh as in the face of Dowry from the Solanki Dynasty. Chittorgarh is mostly famous for Maharana Pratap. Maharana Pratap  was born to Maharana Uday Singh II and Rani Jeevant Kanwa in the year 1540. Maharana Uday Singh II ruled the Kingdom of Mewar, with capital Chittor. As Maharana Pratap was the Eldest of 25 sons therefore he was give the title of Crown Prince.

There are many places to visit in Chittor (Now Chittorgarh). Chittorgarh Fort has seven gates. Main attractions of the fort are Vijay Stambha , Kirti Stambha, Rana Kumbha Palace , Padmini’s Palace and Meera Temple. Rana Kumbha erected Vijay Stambha the Tower of Victory between the year 1458 and 1468. Bagherwal Jain erected the Kirti Towe in the 12th century . Rana Kumbha Palace it includes Horse and Elephant stables and a Lord Shiva Temple. Padmini Palace is also known as Jal Mahal it is a three storey building surrounded by water. Meera  Temple, this temple was built by Maharana Kumbha in the year 1449. It is a Temple of Lord Vishnu has beautiful Idols with a small temple of Lord Krishna.
