Punjab students to study abroad

LAHORE - Punjab government has decided to arrange foundation course of one year for FA, FSc and ICom pass male and female students desirous of getting admission in Oxford University, Cambridge University and London School of Economics.
For admission in British universities, the candidates are required to have 13 year’s education certificate, it was decided in a meeting of logistic committee presided over by Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed to review the arrangements for the visit of 41 position holder girl and boy students selected on merit for study tour to 25 universities of Britain, Germany and China.
Representatives of School Education, Higher Education Department, Industries, Commerce & Investment, Punjab Board of Technical Education, Chief Minister’s Office and Protocol Departments. Social Protection Authority CEO Sohail Anwar Chaudhary also participated as technical expert.
Mashhood told the meeting that besides position holder girl and boy students studying in first year of colleges, medical colleges and engineering universities and talented students of master programmes, top position holders in commerce, A-Level and technical education would also be sent on a study tour to foreign universities. “Punjab government has decided to introduce institutional mechanism for providing necessary guidance with regard to available scholarships in European universities,” the minister said, adding that an agreement of cooperation would soon be reached with admission counselor of Oxford University Summer School in this regard under which joint scholarship scheme would be launched by Oxford University London, Higher Education Commission Punjab and Higher Education Department. Special desks named as Pakistan centers would be set up in three institutions for this purpose, he concluded.
PU exam schedule
Punjab University Examinations Department has notified that the last date for receipt of admission forms and fee for the 1st Semester Examination 2015 of BS 4-Years Programme will be 18th March 2015. The date of commencement of said exam will be announced later. Details are also available at PU website www.pu.edu.pk.
Meanwhile, Punjab University Examinations Department has issued written & Practical date sheets of BA annual examination 2015 for the Hearing Impaired Students and Post Graduate Diploma in International Affairs annual examination 2014. PEF lecture series
The Punjab Education Foundation has initiated a series of lectures for alumni of secondary level partnering schools to sensitise them about availing scholarship opportunities at college level.
Under this program, a lecture was arranged by PEF regional director Shafiq Ahmad at Raza Hall, Multan on Tuesday. The lecture was held in three sessions. A large number of students, teachers and owners of partnering schools in the southern region attended the lecture and put up different questions about competing national outreach program of LUMS University for the needy students.
Meanwhile, next round of LUMS NOP lecture will be held today at a PEF partner schools in Sargodha.
