Quality Coffee at its cheapest

Posted on at

If you are just like me who can't seem to resist the urge to have your daily dose of caffeine, then you my friend is not alone and that yeah, I feel you. *insert grinning smiley face*
Now, instead of wasting your money over coffee everyday by buying in cafes or fastfood restaurants, why not brew your own fresh cup?
This way, you are sure you get to drink the freshest brew and you get to save some money too!

What you'll need:
- coarse ground coffee
- french coffee press
- hot water
- wood spatula (or plastic)

For the french press, I was able to buy the one with a 1 Liter capacity at SM Department Store and it only cost me 230Php.
As for the coffee grounds, you can choose which coffee you like. You can even buy at the grocery store or if you really really like the taste of that from Starbucks, then go ahead and coffee grounds from them. Anything goes! A friend of mine gave me 1Kg of Kapeng Barako straight from

Batangas. Apparently 1Kg is around 230Php. Not bad. :)
It is recommended to chose a wooden spatula so as not to damage the glass cylinder. If you don't have one, you can still use a plastic stirrer or your

spoon (just make sure you don't stir hard and make scratches all over the glass cylinder.

How to brew coffee:

1. Put coarse coffee grounds in the french press
2. Put hot (not boiling) water, stir, put the lid (with the plunger all drawn up) and brew for 4-5 mins (depending on your preferred taste)
3. Slowly "press" or lower the plunger into the coffee to filter the coffee grounds
4. Pour coffee from the press. Serve and Enjoy!

See? It's simple, cheap and easy.
What else are you waiting for? Try this now and let me know. :)

** About the pic:

Brewed coffee shared amongst my 2 office colleagues. That's what's left after. hehe
