See How Chip and Joanna Gaines Deck Out Their Farmhouse For the Holidays Posted on 10 October 2015 at 20:41 If you've ever fantasized about spending the holidays in an old farmhouse, then HGTV hosts Joanna and Chip Gaines are living your Christmas fantasy. Every year by Dec. 1, the couple transforms their 1895 farmhouse on the outskirts of Waco, TX, into a Winter wonderland bursting with the sort of vintage rustic charm you'd expect from the Fixer Upper hosts. "This season warms my heart," says Joanna. "I want to celebrate it as long — and as simply — as I can." Featured in HGTV Magazine, we couldn't help but swoon over their antique-filled, family-friendly approach to holiday decorating! Follow Joanna's lead and shake up the yuletide tradition by hanging stockings on your banister instead of the mantel. We're partial to her candy-cane-striped versions, which add a classic touch with a graphic punch. You wouldn't know by looking at it, but the kitchen island is actually a salvaged church altar from the late 1800s. Joanna topped it with stainless steel — the perfect surface material for baking gingerbread cookies with the kids. The cool Christmas tree sign? That was a $50 antique store score! If you think the holiday decor stops at the living room and kitchen, think again. Joanna highlights the metal piping and cable bunk beds she designed with festive paper garlands. Cute, right? Outdoor sconces bring the farmhouse feel to the bedroom. The polka-dot rug is from The Land of Nod, and the striped bedding is from Target.
