Shimla, The Queen of Hills in India

Posted on at

Everytime I hear the name of Shima, I get my goosebumps and feel so ecstatic that I forget  all my worries and enter the realm of calm and happiness like I am entering the heaven. I have visited so many places till now but my trip to Shimla and Manali was the best of them. Let us discuss the story here.

After reaching Delhi , the capital of India, we headed towards  Kalka, the nearest railway station to Shimla , by a tourist bus. After this it  began the best  part of our journey when we took the toy train which runs from Kalka to shimla, it was very unique experience. The train was so cute and nice that we were not willing to leave it after reaching our destination.

When we reached Shimla, we booked a good hotel and also a tour package for Shimla and Manali.

The next day we woke up and began to ready for our first outing in Shimla which was the

  • Jakhu Temple, it is the temple of Hindu Lord Deity hanuman having the 108 feet statue of Him. It can even be seen from the mall Road in Shimla. It is so huge and tall that we were surprised how they made it in such hilly area and even on the hills.
  • After this we went to see The Viceregal Lodge, also known as Rashtrapati Niwas.  It was formerly the residence of the British Viceroy of India. It houses some of the most ancient articles and photographs going back to the times of the British rule in India. The Rashtrapati Nivas Estate was transferred to the Ministry of Education to be handed over to the Indian Institute of Advanced Study.  So now a days It is better known as the "Indian Institute of Advanced Study. " This building is still so young and well maintened that Nobody can say that it was the building of the british era.
  • Thus it became evening and we returned to our hotel. But there was one place to enjoy in the evening, it was the mall road because it is in full bloom in the evening, all the shops , cafes, bars are lighted up and people walk on the road in the evening and it really looks too beautiful and cool.
  • As it was the season of snow fall so we decided to enjoy the next day in the ridge area .The Ridge road is a large open space, located in the heart of Shimla, the capital city of Himachal Pradesh, India. The Ridge is the hub of all cultural activities of Shimla. Here also is the famous church of Shimla the Christ church which looks so beautiful in the night.
  • Then we planned to visit the zoo of Shimla to see some of the unique animals which are only found in the hills like snow leapord, white peacock, red panda and many more. The zoo of Shimla nearly takes Half a day to visit it fully.I love the snow leapord the most.

After Visiting the Shimla we made our journey for Manali which is famous for its skating, skiing, river rafting and much more fun activites because there is a huge snowfall there and so the sports are truly enjoyed there. We did the river rafting in the Vyas river which is on the way to Manali. See these adventurous sports pictures and I am sure you will start planning to visit here very soon. Also friends check the end video for the full virtual trip of Shimla and Manali.
