The ShoeDazzle concept came from a conversation between co-founder Lee and his wife. Lee wanted to know why she brought shoes from expensive Beverly Hills showrooms. She said that when women shop, they want to feel pampered and beautiful. The company's objective is to translate this environment online. Clients receive a curated selection of fashion items in their very own personalized showroom each month. ShoeDazzle goal is to deliver a collection of items users feel has been specifically handpicked just for them.

ShoeDazzle secured its first round of seven million funding from Polaris Ventures in November 2009.

Lightspeed Venture Partners led a thirteen million dollar round of financing in April 2010. And in May of 2011 ShoeDazzle secured forty million in funding, led by Silicon Valley venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz.

Bill Strauss, the former CEO of Provide Commerce, became ShoeDazzle's CEO in September 2011. Co-founder Lee then became chairman.

In July 2012, ShoeDazzle had a record one million new members. Over the past year, ShoeDazzle went from three million to thirteen million members.

ShoeDazzle constantly teams with celebrities to create limited-edition shoes. Proceeds benefit charitable organizations such as the American Heart Association, among others.
