SHIKARPUR: The massacre in Shikarpur has saddened every citizen in the country, especially Sindh, that will protest today with complete shutdown on call by Shia organizations including Majlis Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen (MWM) Pakistan and Jafaria Alliance. Also, the funeral prayers of the deceased will be offered today.

With plans to shut down Sindh today, MWM denounced the government for failing not only to fend off the Shikarpur attack but also spin into action in its wake catapulting the death toll to 60.

Earlier, the MWM and Jafaria Alliance leaders had announced three-day nationwide mourning to condole the deaths of Shikarpur blast victims.

The entire country is mourning over the loss of lives of innocent people. The provincial government had already announced to support the protest call. Different political parties including Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-e-Azam, transporters, and trader bodies have also answered the call for strike affirmatively.

It should be mentioned here that a powerful bomb tore through a packed Imambargah located in Shikarpur area of Lakhi Dar, killing 60 people in the country's deadliest sectarian attack in nearly two years.

Fearing a rise in the death toll, Shaukat Ali Memon, the medical superintendent of Civil Hospital in Shikarpur, said that at least 60 victims have been killed so far and dozens of injured were yet not out of danger.
