Meet Sony’s new wearables!

Aside from the new Xperia devices, Sony also unveiled their two newest wearables at their event yesterday. The SmartWatch 3 is Sony’s Android wear offering, while the SmartBand Talk is a wearable that you can use to call your contacts and talk to them ala Dick Tracy.

The SmartWatch 3 uses Google’s Android wear platform and basically functions much like other Android Wear smartwatches released by its competitors like Samsung and LG. The SmartWatch 3 is equipped with a square 1.6-inch inch display with a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels, and is powered by a quad-core 1.2GHz processor with 512MB of RAM, and has 4GB of storage. Sony says that the Smartwatch 3 will last for up to two days with normal use, and is IP68 rated. You can check it out in action below:

The SmartBand Talk meanwhile does exactly what it says on the tin. This niftly little wearable is equipped with a low-power 1.4-inch e-paper display. The SmartBand Talk does everything Sony’s Smarband wearable does (tracking all your relevant fitness metrics) with a bonus thrown-in: you can call and talk to people with the device via its integrated speaker. It’s a bit weird to see in action (think Dick Tracy) but for people who have to be connected 24/7 without the encumberance of a phone, this may be a viable option.

The SmartWatch 3 retails for Php 11,990, while the SmartBand Talk will retail for php 8,990.
