Suez canal is the first canal that links the Mediterranean Sea to Red sea.before canal it was the piece of land that connects  continent Asia to Europe to Africa .it takes too much time about 24 days if any ship wants to go from the Arabian Gulf(Asia ) to continent Europe by covering a distance of about 11,300 nautical miles (20,900km).

# History:

                   Firstly European peoples dug this canal across its land with a view to activate world trade.it is considered as the shortest link between east and west due to its geographic location because it was an important navigation canal between Mediterranean Sea at Port Said and the Red Sea at Suez. idea of connecting  the Mediterranean Sea with the Red Sea by a canal dates back to 40 centuries as it was pointed out through history starting by the Pharaohs era passing by Islamic era until it was dredged reaching its current condition today.following is the list of empires which take part in the construction of this canal in different eras.

* Almost 2,000 years B.C              Pharaoh Senusret three created link between Mediterranean and Red SEA.

*Following Centuries                   Silted UP,Trade is carried overland across Asia,Ships sail around Southern Africa,Several attempts are made to establish a water way.

* Napoleon Bonaparte revives the idea .

*   the modern Suez canal was  built  with the help  of French Engineers.

*Today      Suez Canal Authority.

Today more than 9000 container ships passed the Suez Canal  carrying more than 400000 tons of cargo that is 80% of world"s total ocean trade.

North bound cargo comprises mainly oil from Arabian Gulf to Western Europe.South bound Cargo comprises manufactured goods from Europe and North America to Far East and Southern Asia.
