THE LAST SERMON OF THE HOLY PROPHET HAZRAT MUHAMMAD (PBUH)

Islam wrap all the feature of human life. It is not only a faith but also a complete of system of life; Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) is the last prophet of Allah Almighty. At the time of the stage of Hajj, he delivered his last sermon on 9th Zil-Hajjah, 10 A.H. addressed over one hundred thousand accompanying person and counseled them to dedicate their lives for the service of Islam, so that they might grow the splendor of Allah Almighty. Here is the extract from the address:-

All praise is due to Allah, so we praise him, and seek his pardon and we turn to him. We look for shelter with Allah from the ills of ourselves and from the evil penalty of our actions. Whom Allah guides aright there is none to lead him astray. I bear observer that there is no God but Allah, the One, having no colleague with him, His is the power and to him is due all admire. He grants life and causes death and is commanding over everything. There is no God but Allah, the one, he satisfied his assure and granted triumph to his bondsman, and he alone in retreat the confederates of the enemies of Islam.

O, People, listen to my expressions, for I do no know whether we shall ever get together again and execute Hajj after this year. O’ people! Allah says, “O People we shaped you from one male and one female and made you into tribes and nations, so as to be known to one another. Learn that all muslim is a brother to every muslim and that the muslims comprise one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legal to a muslim which feel right to a fellow muslim if not it was given generously and freely. Do not therefore do unfairness to yourselves. Allah mankind is the offspring of Adam and Adam was created out of clay.

Behold! All practice of the days of ingnorance are now under my feet. The blood revenges of the days of unawareness are remitted, O, people; verily your blood, your property and your honour are holy and strong until you come into view before your Lord. Verily you will soon meet your Lord and you will be detained answerable for your trials. O, people, Allah the Mighty and Exalted, has ordained to every one his due split of inheritance, every muslim is the brother of every other muslim, and all the muslims form one brotherhood. Behold, worship your Lord, offer prayers five times a day; observe fast in the month of Ramadan; pay readily the Zakat on your property; and perform pilgrimage to the House of God and obey your rulers and you will be admitted to the Paradise of your Lord.

Therefore Allah’s Messenger lifted his forefinger towards the sky and then pointing towards people said.

O Lord, Bear Thou witness unto it.

O Lord, Bear Thou witness unto it.

The Holy sermon was delivered by the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in the plain of Arafat, near the hill named Jabel-e-Rehmat. It can well be claimed as the first ever Universal Charter of Human Rights. All the obligations of Islam have been precisely and beautifully mentioned therein.
