The Last Tomatoes.

Posted on at

These six beauties were the final six tomatoes that I harvested from my garden last year.  I had picked them grass-green in October before the garden froze, and then put them in the garage for a few weeks. They gradually turned beautiful ripe red.

This photo was taken November 12, so I was eating garden fresh tomatoes well past the growing season here. I had fifteen tomato plants and harvested 160 pounds of tomatoes.  They went into tomato soup, tomato juice and chopped whole tomatoes for the freezer. I also ate plenty of fresh tomatoes on everything from salads to pizzas to soups.

Browsing my seed catalog, I am looking forward to picking my own tomatoes again, but that will not happen until August, which seems an awfully long time from now.
