The Lost Empire: Chalukya Dynasty

During the 6th and the 8th century the Chalukyas were the dominant power. Again regain their power in the 12 century they rule till the 12th century. The Chalukyas that rules from Vengi were know as the historian as the eastern Chalukyas and those from kalayani are referred as later western Chalukyas and who ruled from Badami were the western Chalukyas. Their history makes them very controversial. Their rule marks the history of milestone in the history of south India and a golden age in the history of Karnataka. The atmosphere of politics shifted from smaller empire to a larger empire during the reign of Badami Chalukyas. The kingdom took control from the Kaveri to the Narmada. During the reign of this empire there was birth of efficient administration, trade and commerce and development of new style in architecture called as the Chalukyas architecture. In the 9th century the birth of Kannada literature was supported and Raashtrakuta found the tradition of Jain and Veerashaiva. Telgu literature was born in the 11th century by the eastern Chalukyas. They ruled over the Deccan plateau for 600years. During this period they rules as three closely related by individuals dynasties. The Chalukyas can be allied as Gujaras.
