THE VILLA

Posted on at

Recently I heard about the villa which is located in Mexico. A famous English writer Frank discovers that his dead father is ruined with an unlisted property in Mexico. To pay off the sum unpaid, he makes a visit to the villa for valuation. But after seeing framed paintings by his father, he calls his girlfriend Kathy a painting artist to accompany him. She immediately likes the villa and urges him to not to sell. Meanwhile, Frank career gets a new break when an famous publisher comes forward to buy rights for his first novel Maybe, Maybe Not S!. He also gets advance US$8,300 in a two-book contract. So, Frank continues his stay in the royal villa as good sign and begins work on his second novel The Director..

One Fine night Frank plays the Victorian piano. The strings get jammed suddenly. He opens the lid and finds a secret key under. Frank also gets a curious painting. It seemed more like a map than a work of art. Then he realizes that it was similar to the floor plan of the villa given by his supporter. So he inquiries each room and upsets upon a secret door behind a wardrobe. He uses the secret key to open the lock and sees plenty of frameless paintings hidden in a trunk. Many scenes appear to have come straight out of his life like his mother's death by car accident. Suddenly he realizes that his father had precognition skills. So he concludes that though some of the paintings did not make sense but may predict the future events. Later Frank wins a literary award which as predicted by his father's paintings. so he gets scared and tries to sell off the villa. Frank tells Kathy about his discovery. They decide to burn all the paintings in the secret room. But almost, the secret room defends itself by falling furniture and fittings to block his entry.

Frank's friend advises him to consult a parapsychologist  Ben to find a solution. Ben came and guesses that the villa may have negative energy of prior owners as symptoms manifest psychic phenomena. Ben also suggests that Frank's father may have found an exit, in his passion for paintings, to survive this negative energy which can be created not to be destroyed but only transferred. So he requests Frank to allow him to conduct more experiments using a tuning fork within the villa compound. But all hell break loose halfway and ghosts begin to appear. But there is a multidimensional twist in the story. It is revealed that Frank's girl friend is not what she claimed to be, she’s eager to secure the cash, Frank would gain from the sale of the house somewhat to continue their relationship. It is then implied that the biggest mistake Frank does is thinking that he is the one in every painting, as the person in the marriage and murder paintings is not himself Thus, it can be understood that Frank did not realize that he too usual to his father's gift, with his second novel showing that a "director" character would soon appear in the prediction.
