Vishwakarma Day marks the annual puja of the Hindu deity, Vishwakarma. It falls on September 17. Vishwakarma is regarded as one of the fourteen precious things born of the Samudhra manthan. He is believed to have constructed the holy city of Dwarka which was ruled y Lord Krishna. Vishwakarma is also regarded as the divine carpenter and architect in Rig Veda. Devotees of Vishwakarma offer special prayers and tributes to their God. Craftsmen, carpenters and other skilled laborers pray to Vishwakarma to increase their productivity in work. People also fly kites on this day. Offices, workshops and factories offer puja to Vishwakarma on this day. They are mostly decorated with flowers, pandals and the deity.
