Volunteer Helping Exotic Animals

Posted on at

Purchasing an exotic animal offers many rewards, but often owning an exotic animal proves to be too much work for the owner, ultimately leading to abandonment of the animal. This is often the case when a person purchases a large animal such as a wolf, tiger, tortoise, or snake without adequately researching the proper housing and funding required for raising an exotic animal.

Exotic animals are typically too large to travel, so people leave the animals behind, or release them, during an evacuation such as during a natural disaster. Boa constrictors, pythons, and most tortoises grow extremely large. Due to their massive size and extreme living conditions, they are often impossible to travel with, especially during an emergency.

Many volunteer organizations house, feed, and care for abandoned exotic animals. Properly caring for exotic animals, especially physically ill, abused, or neglected animals is an extremely time consuming and massively expensive labor of love. Most volunteer organizations are unable to keep up with the constantly increasing demand to help exotic animals (especially large cats and birds) due to staffing and/or available funding.

Below is a list of things everyone is able to do to volunteer helping exotic animals:

Volunteer time

Volunteering personal time provides monumental help for all volunteer facilities. Donating time working with exotic animals is unimaginably rewarding because of the personal interaction with each unique, rare animal. Volunteering personal time also provides a rare opportunity to work closely with, and help an animal that an average person doesn't encounter in daily life. How many people have seen a nine-hundred pound tiger leap into a tub of water, like a circus performer? People that volunteer helping exotic animals see sights like that every day.

Office supplies

The cost of office supplies adds up to an extreme expense for any company. Every volunteer organization is always in need of office supplies such as printing ink, paper, pens, pencils and envelopes. It is easy to purchase a gift card from any office supply store and mail the gift card to any organization that helps exotic animals.

Used cell phones

Numerous charitable organizations accept used cell phones. The organizations sell the cell phones to recycling companies for cash.

Help advertise

Helping a company advertise is a great way that everyone is able to volunteer helping exotic animals. Advertising is as easy as telling other people about a company, writing reviews, and posting online links to the websites for exotic animal charity organizations.

Donate money

Every charitable organization is always in need of financial contributions. Money is often the best contribution because it allows the organization to purchase exact needs. A great way to donate money to an organization that helps exotic animals is to visit the facility and meet the staff and the animals. At the end of your visit, you will donate money graciously.

Donate land

Charitable organizations that house exotic animals always need more land. Land is very expensive to purchase and most exotic animals grow extremely large. Donating excess land to a charitable organization that helps exotic animals is a (rare) gracious gift that will help numerous exotic animals.
