Weekend in Bangalore

Posted on at

I came to Bangalore to represent ST for a meeting with a new potential corporate client. The corporation is an American multinational that wants to commemorate the number of years without any incidents due to strong safety measures. They came across ST and have been in contact with our new corporate relations fellow who sent them a pitch presentation. I am the closest person to Bangalore so I came in to meet with the director to answer his questions about how the program will work and address his concerns.

This is the first time I have been given such a responsibility and I was nervous because I am not good at meeting knew people. After three months in India with ST I do have a clear understanding of what they do and how it works. Visiting Talupula helped clarify the ground operations which I was able to use during the meeting. Work purpose of coming to Bangalore went well.

One highlight is that I got to take a sleeper bus which was quite comfortable. At first I was confused when I was picked up on a bus where the seats didn't recline but later I found out the bus was taking us to Gachibowli were a few sleeper buses where waiting. I was supposed to get off in Madiwala and I think I got off somewhere else because it was a 13km auto ride to Koramangala because I was afraid of getting lost on the bus at 6am and missing my meeting. My meeting was an hour from Koramangala so I was on a time crunch.

The weekend has been a relaxing one even though I've seen two of the Bangalore fellows and one was in passing as she was heading out for the night. My kind host has taken such good care of me with her wonderful cooking and enjoyable company. We went in search of an event in the city but ended up hopelessly lost and without GPS could not find our way to the event so we just took a bus back to Koramangala where I carelessly left my wallet. That has put a damper on my weekend which left me home all yesterday just applying to jobs. I tried calling Chase to send a replacement card to India since I am without cash or access to cash right now. The worst part is my boss' bank card was in my wallet. Why I travelled with it, I can't say but things could have been worse since my passport was also on me that night. Whoever found my wallet is about INR10k richer. It does occur to me that what if no one has picked it up and it is just lying around somewhere.
