Why did Jason's father decide to walk the 18 miles back home?

Answer:

Jason's father took a painful decision of walking the 18 miles back home.In spite of  all protest and apologies he persisted in doing so. He took so much physical and emotional pain for the reasons. Firstly he thought that he has failed as a father. If his son couldn't tell him the truth , the fault was his . Secondly we know that children love their parents. So it was a painful experience for Jason, too. this step made Jason realize his mistake. He realized that he had disappointed his father. He confessed his mistake and apologised. He never dared to lie his father since.
