Canon 550 is a cheap camera and very very good for its price for amateurs. Photography does not depend on how good camera you have but how good imagination you have but you need to have a good camera so it can give you the image quality you desire so in my Photography career i think 550d is very decent camera that amateurs should go for and practive their photography once they have mastered it they can go for good cameras. IT also gives you hd video recording so videomakers can use it too and get good results.
