Everyday Kindness: A True Friend and Three Little Words

Daniela Calderon Napoles Mexicali, Mexico   A True Friend and Three Little Words Sometimes self-care means accepting the kindness and caring of someone else for a change. Daniela describes a true friend as someone who knows what to say or do when you need it the most. She’ll never forget the day she felt she had lost everything. Even in a crowded room Daniela felt lonelier than ever. Sitting in silence with her intense sadness about how dramatically her life had changed, she received a text message. It said, “Hello brown girl :)”. The text was from the girl sitting by her side. Although she knew nothing about what Daniela was going through, the girl somehow saw through the brave exterior and knew Daniela wasn’t okay that day. That single message from this girl changed my whole day, it made me remember that I’m not lonely and that friends are there no matter what. We never spoke about that day, and nobody noticed her act of kindness; but for me it meant everything. I’m very thankful to have her as my friend. Small actions bring great reactions when you care about someone. – Edited by Jewel Fries << Back to Everyday Kindness
