Graffiti painting and peace in Afghanistan

Posted on at

War is not the only and permanent solution for having and living in peace most of the time. Sometimes we can extend the peace and unity by changing the thought and the way people look to the existing problems.

It is absolutely clear that everyone likes to live in peace but sometimes the wrong prejudice that is caused by lack of enough and correct information about issues is the reason for bringing instabilities in the society.

In my country, Afghanistan, war is been accepted as a normal behavior. From the big and serious wars between governments to civil wars and little and unimportant wars among society and families. They all have been converted to a part of daily life of people.

Unfortunately children are also those who are affected by this issue the most. Different wars and unsecure situation in the society didn’t let them to live like a child and spend their childhood in a peaceful and happy situation.

Everyone knows that today’s children are tomorrow's men and women who are going to lead the society and future of the country but not most of the people care about the beliefs, mental health and way children are being raised .

Because of the fact that children learn the habits and ways of life by acts and words of their parents, I do think if today’s children are supposed to live in a society where wars and unpleasant events and news are the most normal part of it and war and in the best situation abusive words, are accepted as the only logical and simple solution for problems, we should not be optimistic to the positive changes in the future of our society.

Because we are raising the future leaders, parents and any other member of the society up in a situation same as their parents. So the time is being repeated again and they will decide same way as their old parents used to decide for solving problems.

A few months ago I decided to paint some Graffiti paintings about peace in one of the primary schools in the town and fortunately did this with the help of SOBHAN social and cultural foundation.

My goal was to encourage little students to be familiar with peace and think about making it as one of the important part of their daily life.

I asked some of the students to spray the colors on the paintings and slogans. And meanwhile we talk about having peace in our life.

It was a busy but excited day in my life. I hope for those students it was the same.

I hope those paintings work as a daily reminder for students to put peace in their daily challenges and problems in the life.
