Know how to prioritize
Whether you are working offline or online, you will have a lot of tasks for sure, especially if you will be working as a General Virtual Assistant. General Virtual Assistants perform different functions such as appointment setting, calendar management, data entry, email management, research, social media marketing, and management, transcription and so on. So know how to prioritize. Do the most challenging one first thing in the morning because it is the time where your body and mind is active.
Remove bad habits
To manage your time effectively, you have to remove your bad habits. Watching movies and your favorite television series are fun, without a doubt. However, if you want to succeed in your business, career, and life in general, you have to remove your bad habits. Stop procrastinating and do what you have to do now.
Use time management tools
Using time management tools is pivotal in the success of your business or career. Let's admit it, it is difficult to keep up with deadlines, right? So, to help you work efficiently, you can use different time management software and tools such as Asana, Clarizen, Hub staff, Toggl, and Trello.
It is okay to say no
If you are a business or company owner, and your hands are full at work, it is okay to say no, most especially if what you are doing is urgent and you have to finish them as soon as possible. Remember, you need to give priority to tasks that are more important. You can ask one of your staff to do it for you, instead.
Have a proper sleep
Having a proper sleep is critical so you can recover from stress at work, school, etc. If you do not get enough sleep at least 8 hours a day, there is a higher chance that your mind and body will not function well. And the worst part is, your immune system will go down, and you will be prone to different sicknesses. Besides having a night of proper sleep, you need to exercise or workout and have a balanced diet. Include super healthy food in your daily diet such as avocado, berries, kale, salmon, seaweed, tomato, etc.
The secret to modern life is finding the measure in time management. I have two kids, career and I travel, and I don't think my life is any different than most couples. The most valuable commodity now for many people is time and how to parcel that out."
Systemize your email
Having an email is exciting yet it can be distressing at times especially if it is full with irrelevant email messages, and you can no longer control it. To help you systemize your email, make it a habit to delete old emails then unsubscribe to newsletters that have no value. You can use some tools to help you organize your email accounts such as Google Inbox, IFTTT, Shift, Sortd and Unroll.Me.
Take a break
Working for straight hours a day can burn you out, for sure. That is why it is necessary that you take a short break so you can allow your mind and body to recharge for a bit. Get out and breathe some fresh air. Do frequent breaks if you are an entrepreneur. Do not let your physical, mental and emotional state suffer.
Do not perform multiple tasks
Performing multiple tasks can't help you manage time. According to research, multi-tasking can slow you down instead because if you are juggling between work and other things, chances are it will take you to time to finish each, and you will make more mistakes. Moreover, it can pose a severe threat to your overall health and well-being, and it can negatively affect your relationship with your family and friends.
If you are working under the deadline, make sure you turn off everything that can distract you such as emails, etc. There are applications or tools that can help you stay focused such as Anti-Social, Concentrate, Focus Lock, FocusWriter, Freedom, Time Out and TomatoTimer. You can get them for free, or you can choose to pay if you want to unlock all the exciting features.
Know what your goals are
One of the best time management tips you can apply in your business, work or life, in general, is to know what your goals are. If you know what your goals are, you will know how to give priority to each task handed at you. Moreover, make sure you write your goals in the evening or during the weekend so you can be more effective in achieving all of your goals on a particular day.
