SUMMER SUN, TONS OF FUN

Posted on at

Walking through New York on a hot and humid summer day feels like the sun is three feet away from your face. But, as a New Yorker, we have to deal with that and our greatest friend is the AC.

The other day, I decided to go bike riding in Prospect Park. So my expectation was you know, to grab my wonderful Apple iPhone, have some tunes playing in my ears, a nice cold bottle of water, take in the sun and relax on the bright green grass after my ride.

So I attempted to do this and boy did I take in that sun. I think New Yorkers experience crazy heat during the summers that is coupled with 1,000% humidity, it is absolutely nuts. But, we do continue with our daily tasks and try to keep hydrated over the course of the day so we don’t transform into raisins and dry out. Sunny days are the best days for most. They are the times that smack us with smiles, feelings of joy and appreciation of the beautiful things in life. Sunny days are when we make the greatest memories with going to the beach with family and friends, swimming in the ocean or maybe going to a BBQ by a clear-water lake or at a friend’s house.

I know that the heat can be a little much at times but, look at the bright side, get it? Ha, anyways the sun definitely has its perks but make sure you are protecting yourself as well ‘cause we don’t want you to burn to a crisp, that’s just painful. So, make sure you drink lots of our favorite drink, water and put on some sunscreen! Anything below 30 SPF is practically useless in terms of protection so don’t be afraid to stock up on the higher-numbered guys.

So, get out to the park or the beach and take in that summer sun because it won’t last for long.

You know you want to get out there and make some awesome memories in the park, on the beach, by a lake or poolside but remember to keep yourself healthy in the summer sun.
