Usually, I crave for chips, chocolates, pasta, and pizza. But recently, I have come to realize that I am not getting any younger and I should be giving priority to my health now because I can feel that my body is deteriorating. I fell in love with it, even more, when I have discovered that it contains a wide array of vitamins and minerals that helps in controlling blood sugar,  promoting better digestive health, fighting inflammation, and reducing the risk of heart disease.

Berries are hard to find here in where I live. The only available berry type in most grocery stores that I always go to is strawberry. They are kind of expensive, but I still purchase them anway because of its health benefits. They are loaded with antioxidants such as anthocyanins and resveratrol which are responsible for protecting the cells. Also, they are an excellent treat for diabetics because they help improve blood sugar levels and the response of insulin, they are high in fiber which can support your weight-loss journey, defy inflammation that can lead to chronic diseases such as diabetes and heart disease, lowers cholesterol levels and a lot more. You can eat it alone or add it to your family recipes.

  • Nuts

Nuts are not created equal. There are not nuts that you should not have especially when mixed with unhealthy food choices. Also, avoid such that are cooked in oil and with high sodium content. The best nuts are almonds, cashews and pistachios because they are low in calorie content. Almonds are pretty expensive but they help in improving cholesterol and blood pressure levels, and the same thing goes with cashews and pistachios.
