2014 and Insecure Feeling amongst Afghans

Posted on at

There has been a growing fear amongst the local Afghans about the withdrawl of Nato and its allies.People are fearing a bloody backlash from the Taliban.Lack of confidence on the Afghan national army and Afghan police has made their fear even real. The so called insiders attacks and army backfiring at the Nato troops are some realities that the Afghans are keeping a close eye on.

Buisnesses are not at its usual best and no one is investing amongst the fear.Property market is on a downfall from the last one year or so.The huge amount of infrastructure building is some how making a very slow progress. The security situation in most parts of Afghanistan is unstable except some major cities.Main buisness highways are secured by the Taliban And moving around swiftly is very hard. The examples are the main torkham and jalalabad highway which is main transit route to the whole Afghanistan and growing presence of Taliban in Bhattikot area is the making the area a no go zone. The fact is that the Army cannot provide security to each and every villages in Afghanistan.

Border incursions from Pakistan side is a daily routine where extremist factions are moving in and out of Afghanistan freely. The asaaults on our main security hub Kabul is the most worrying sign.If Kabul is not safe with the amount of  Nato presence so we shouldnot expect security to get better in other parts of Afghanistan.Once i was on a marketinf trip to Ghazni province about  a 100 kms from kabul , we left kabul early in the morning and what we saw was burned oil tankers and containers. We were told by our local guide that the area belongs to the taliban from 8 at night till 8 in the morning and you should never drive  beyond Kabul .So as my personal experience says that stability and security is not coming to Afghanistan in days, weeks or months but it will take years.

So to make a clear point we have a well trained army who are trying to provide security to every single Afghan. We have to beleive on them and make sure to provide them with enough moral support.Nothing is going to happen in Afghanistan after Nato withdrawl but will be a better and safe Afghanistan and we should Think about our country not our personal Point of views. When you are confident so is the people around you.So be prepared as we have a huge task ahead to build our country and make it stand amongst the best in the world.
