8 reasons why your dreams are hard to achieve

People make New Year resolutions at the beginning of the year or at the years’ end for several reasons. Some of these perfectly laid out goals sit on the shelves, others are put to good use. To most, even when they have Done their New Year Resolution the right way, they find it difficult to execute their dreams perfectly.

This is because of bad habits. Yes, most people have bad habits. These habits are hindrance to our visions, mission, and dreams. If we must achieve our goals, we must get rid of bad habits.

Here are the 8 reasons why your dreams are hard to achieve

Making Excuses

Often times, we make some of the following statements

I’m tired

I don’t have enough time.

I will do it tomorrow.

I’m tired of trying and not succeeding.

Most people find it difficult to succeed, neither will I

Its’ way difficult for me

When that happens, reflect on your dreams.

This simply means your mind is playing tricks on you. The mind prefers you stay within your comfort zone, doing the same old activities over and over again.

The mind is making up an excuse for your failure, trying to keep you within the loop of what it is accustomed too.

At this junction, you need to eliminate all excuses set up by the mind. If you believe them, rely on them and remain in the loop, you will never achieve your dreams. Remember the goal is to achieve the dreams not let excuses ruin your dreams.

Procrastination

Like excuses, procrastination is another enemy of success. Therefore we need to give up on procrastination if we MUST succeed in life.

Keep in mind, the best time to do something anything is not later, not tomorrow but NOW! This is because your mind can start giving you excuses to why it MUST not be done right away. DO IT.

The really happy people are those who have broken the chains of procrastination, those who find satisfaction in doing the job at hand. They’re full of eagerness, zest, productivity. You can be, too.

Norman Vincent Peale

The idea is, don’t doubt your abilities, don’t have the spirit of failure, and don’t be sceptical about the result, do a little something today & now!

Say bye-bye to untrue thoughts about your blog, about your dreams, about what your goals are by replacing them with words and thoughts that are productive and healthy towards achieving and realizing your dreams. That’s how you can keep procrastination at bay.

 Stop the Life of Perfection

Perfectionists easily get distracted in the details and lose sight of the big picture. Details and been meticulous are important, but when too much attention is giving unto them, they become Achilles heels.

For instance, many want not just to be offered a good job with a high salary (Especially in Nigerian society), they just want to be rich overnight.

Therefore, they are not just looking for jobs, they need high paid jobs in Nigeria.  After which, they steal money because they want to become rich in a month or a year.

This is a wrong approach both in character and mindset.

Because you need to be grateful for the job you are giving. Many (with myself inclusive desire a white collar job) seeks what you have. Why not…

Strive for continuous improvement, instead of perfection

Kim Collins

When you strive to improve continuously, (I'm not happy with the stars I get after every blog submission, but I chose to improve on blog submission and writing) regardless if i make the mistake, i forgive yourself, learn from it and take the next available step forward.

It‘s okay to make stumble and fall, but it’s not okay to lay down. Eliminate perfection by continuous improvement. Because you can be perfect when you continue to improve.

Afraid of failure

We have a wrong perception of what failure is these days. I’m speaking from experience.  Most people fear failure, I embrace it.

Don’t get the wrong idea, I hate to fail, I hate failure

I have failed several times already on Bitlanders (my blogs in Bitlanders can attest to that), failure does not stop me from trying and from experimenting different write-ups to see what works for me.

I see failure as proof that I’m trying new ideas; I’m experimenting on new things. Failure details me the lesson and experience I had gained thus far. It encourages me to have will power to desire and to achieve my goals. Failure shows what I need not repeat the same mistake of the past.

If I were to be afraid to fail, what would I say of Thomas Edison a successful inventor, scientist and businessman who when asked if he is a failure after 9,000 attempts, he says…

I now know definitively over 9000 ways that an electric light bulb will not work. Success is almost in my grasp

Addiction2success

I’m convinced that failure is a challenge on the road to success and by embracing it and learning from it. Surely I will succeed!

Taking too many goals at the same time

Taking too many goals at the same time is the classic problem of productivity. Well… you have to set your New Year Resolution and follow them.  To achieve the best we are capable of, we set goals for ourselves.

There is nothing wrong with setting goals, but having to run all goals simultaneously and spontaneously, is more than a fool errand. Therefore, you need to cut down your goals. Be specific about what you want.

Start by picking the smallest and easiest goal to achieve in time. Then pick the next attainable goal. Because accomplishing a goal can boost your morale.

Taking too many goals leads to failure, failure to regrets,  regrets blindsight you from the future. And a blurred future is an unachieved goal

Living in the past glory

Sometimes we fail because we are living in past glory. There is nothing more deadly than  unachieved dreams like “Living in the past glory”

It is all in the past, myspace is not as popular as Facebook.

When we stop living in our past glory, we can have a clear vision to see things differently. It is better to live by pressing unto higher grounds than living in past glory.

It is not yet the time

Everyone wants to achieve their goals in life, be it a New Resolution, Dream Car, or even own a house. Sometimes we DON’T achieve these dreams because it is not yet the appointed time.

Maybe the universe itself does not want us achieving these dreams or maybe you have another purpose in life to fulfil first! Maybe you have to work hard and polish your skills before you can succeed. Whatsoever be the reason for not achieving a dream, this I know for certain

To everything, there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heavens. A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;... a time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

No matter the amount of hard & smart work you put in. Sleepless night and man-hours, there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heavens.

But of course, you must keep polishing your skills. Mould yourself and await the appointed time to blossom.

You Are Not Visualizing success and working towards it

Success is like a mountain you keep climbing without reaching the peak. Successful people visualize and imagine their success like climbing a mountain. They keep climbing. Success people keep thinking about new ways of climbing, new angles of trying to reach the mountains’ peak!

Think about how to become successful not only on Bitlanders but in every other aspect of life. Create the mindset, work towards success and success will follow you everywhere you go!

On a Final Note

No matter the changes you want to see in your life and the goals you have set for yourself, the reality is; these things require a great deal of commitment, focus, hard work, sacrifice, courage, encouragement and determination to become successful. Success itself is a journey, not a destination. When you start the process of realizing your dreams, you would have to continue the process to be able to achieve those dreams. The dreams are achieved by getting rid of the obstacles on the road.
