A young man was on his way home from attending a Bible study. The subject discussed by the Pastor that night was heavy on his heart: “Does God still speak to people today?”

The Pastor had said that God still do if we will listen to Him and obey His voice.

As he drove, he begun to pray, “God, … if You still speak to people, speak to me. I will listen. I will do my best to obey.”

“God, … if You still speak to people, speak to me. I will listen. I will do my best to obey.”

Then as he drove down the main street of the town, he had the strangest thought to stop and to buy a gallon of milk. He shook his head and said out loud, “God, is that you?” there was no answer, so he drove on.

But again, the thought came back: buy a gallon of milk. … He hesitated a while, then said, “Ok, God, in case it was You, I will buy the milk.” He thought he could always use the milk anyway.

Then as he continued toward home, he felt an urge to turn down the Seventh Street. “This is crazy,” he thought, and drove pass the street.

Again, the urging came back; so he turned around and drove down the Seventh Street.

Driving several blocks, he felt the urge to stop. He pulled to the curb and parked his car. He looked around the neighborhood. It was a semi-commercial area. The stores were close, the street was dark and it looked like everybody had already gone to bed.

Then again he sensed something, “Go and give the milk to the people in the house across the street.”

He hesitated. “Lord, this is insane. Those people are already asleep. If I wake them up they are going to be mad at me, and I will look stupid.”

But, again, he felt that he should go and give the milk.

Finally, he opened the car door, crossed the street and knocked on the door. He thought,”If nobody answered, I’m out of here.”

He could hear some noise inside, and suddenly, a voice yelled out, “Who is it? … What do you want?” Then the door was opened before he could go away.

The man looked like he just got out of bed; a strange look was on his face, and he didn’t seem happy. “What is it”, he repeated.

The young man thrust the milk into his hand and said, “Here, I brought this to you.” The man took the milk and rushed down the hallway.

Then there came a woman carrying the milk to the kitchen. The man was following her with a crying baby in his arms. He had tears streaming down his face.

The man began speaking, “We were just praying. We have some big bills this month and we ran out of money. We didn’t have any milk for our baby. I was just praying God to show me how to get some milk.”

"I was just praying God to show me how to get some milk."

His wife yelled out from the kitchen, “I ask Him to send an angel; are you an angel?”

The young man reached into his wallet, pulled out all the money in it and put them in the hands of the man.”

He turned and walked back toward His car with tears streaming down his face.

“I ask Him to send an angel; are you an angel?”

He knew now that God really still speaks;

and that He still answers prayers.

God knows each of their needs and answered both their prayers, respectively.
