After our Caramoan island hopping adventure, we took a side trip in Pili Camarines Sur to pay a visit to the first world-class watersports complex not only in the Philippines but in Asia as well. This is the place where watersport enthusiasts from every corner of the world gather to share their passion together at Camsur Watersports Complex.

Within the Provincial Capitol Complex of Cadlan, Pili, Camarines Sur is where the renowned Camsur Watersports Complex is situated. A park famous for extreme watersports activities like wakeboarding, kneeboarding, waterskiing, and wakeskating. This is a must side trip itinerary after visiting Caramoan and we couldn't miss the chance to spend a day in Camsur Watersports Complex (CWC).

CAMSUR WATERSPORTS COMPLEX

We rented a van for the convenience of the group since we only had less than a day to spend in Camsur Watersports Complex before heading back to Legazpi City. We passed by a food shop and took an early breakfast before heading to Camsur Watersports Complex. Right after we took our breakfasts we went back to the van we rented and off we went to CWC.

We finally arrived at the CWC and had a snap of this Camsur mural as a mandatory selfie for the Camsur trip while my other travel mates were busy making inquiries about the activities offered in the park. No time wasted for a day in Camsur Watersports Complex. This alone made my CWC trip complete. :)

They only made an inquiry regarding the wakeboarding because it's the least that we can do while inside the Camsur Watersports Complex aside from strolling. We rented a locker for the safety of our belongings aside from it's mandatory if you are going to do one of the extremes watersports. Locker rental at that time was P200.00 ($4).

This is an example of a wakeboard that has binding boots attached to the board. You just have to slip your feet on the boots with complete sports gear and you are set to go. I was wondering before how the wakeboard doesn't fall off when they're having a flying trick? This photo is the answer to my long time question and it's all because of this binding boots.

Here's a list of wakeboarding rates just in case you might want to try your wakeboarding skills.

While my friends are still in the long queue, I and my other travel mates started to take a stroll in the complex. I saw this clubhouse, a resto and a bar in one and took a snap of it not knowing I will be needing it now for this blog. This clubhouse serves Filipino, Korean, Japanese and even Western cuisines. Liquors and other tropical drinks are also available here.

C.) Huts and Cabanas

There are a lot of huts and cabanas distributed beside the wakeboarding lake, few meters away from the clubhouse, and at the poolside. Rental of cabanas near the pool is consumable at that time. For the nipa huts, the rental is P700 ($14). Looking at the nipa hut for the price is not worth the pay so we decided not to rent one. For the updated rates please do refer here.

D. ) Swimming Pool

An adult fee of P150 ($3) is needed before taking a plunge into the pool. For children ten years old and below it is only P130.00 ($2.58).  E.) Wakeboarding

What is Wakeboarding?

Wakeboarding is originated in water skiing, surfing, and snowboarding. The rider's feet is attached to the wakeboard bindings and towed by a motor boat or a cable that will allow the rider to glide above the water.

This is the cable skiing lake where an overhead cable suspension of 8-12 meters above water level will run around the lake in a counter-clockwise motion powered by a powerful electric motor speed of 26-65 kilometers per hour that pulls the skier around the lake. The white and blue boards that you can see in the lake are used by professional skiers when doing some wakeboarding tricks. By sliding their wakeboard to the flat surface of the blue or whiteboard they can lift themselves up high and twist while holding the cable.

Here is a video from Benjamin Leclair that will let you see what wakeboarding is all about and hopefully, it will help you decide if you want to try the wakeboarding sport or just wanna be like me who just had a day stroll in Camsur Watersports Complex and enviously watching the riders gliding amazingly in the water. This video showcases the big lake where you can find mostly professional wakeboarders gliding and doing tricks in the water. It's an actual description of the photo above with a wakeboarding lake caption.

E.) Beginners Wakeboard Lake

There is a manmade lake for beginners wakeboarding skier which is smaller than the other wake lake. This lake is in back and forth motion unlike the oval wake lake with boards it's in a semi-circular shape. Before you can glide, there is a short briefing of the do's and don'ts and the basics of wakeboarding. If you can see the red monobloc chairs on the ground, that is the holding area for the briefing session. Two of my friends tried the basic wakeboarding and another one followed after seeing these two. The man facing his back on the camera is their instructor. They are waiting for their turn for the other rider to be back at the platform.

Seeing my friend glide smoothly in the water made me wanna go and try the sport. But fear took over me than the eagerness of doing so. Fear that I might hurt my back if I flip to the water. A lot of times my friends flipped before they get to ride smoothly on the wakeboard and reach the other end of the lake without falling off. This photo shows the exact position of your legs when on the wakeboard. You need to have a strong grip of the cable so perfectly toned strong arms is needed, plus the ability to balance yourself, and proper foot placement to which foot to put forward because that is where your body weight is placed on the front foot.

Here is a video from Derek Pueblo taken at Camsur Watersports Complex showing some wakeboarding skills of the men and women wakeboarders at the wake lake of Camsur Watersports Complex. Seeing how they twist and turn without plunging into the lake is such an amazing skill. No wonder CWC is tagged as the first world-class watersports complex in whole Asia. It's the best place to be when you are a wakeboarder.

Before I put an end to my blog here is a Querlo chat that you can freely participate.

END OF STROLLING

It was such a wonderful day in Camsur Watersports Complex. Though I never tried to do the basics of the extreme sports wakeboarding I had fun just by simply strolling in the park. I have been longing to see and to visit CWC just for curiosity and never did I realized that it will be for real. There are things in my mind that I'd like to do but sometimes it's against your body's will. Wish I did try but saying no is always the safest way to keep myself from harm. Whenever you can visit this place, make sure to never miss the opportunity to visit Camsur Watersports Complex so you can see and test yourself if you've got what it takes to be a wakeboard rider.
