An earthquake of magnitude 7.5 struck Afghanistan near the country’s border with Pakistan on Monday with tremors felt in northern India. The U.S. Geological Survey said the epicenter was in the Hindu Kush mountains in north east Afghanistan and published maps of the intensity of shaking that resulted. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in tweets from his verified accounts after the earthquake, which was felt for several seconds in the Indian capital New Delhi:
