With detection of black spots on the walls of the Taj Mahal, there was a petition before the National Green Tribunal about the impact of pollution on the Lotus Temple in the capital. The petitioner claimed that vehicular emissions are causing the white marble monument turn grey. Two court commissioners appointed to find out the extent of damage to the temple is reported to have submitted an alarming report. The commissioners found alarming congestion and traffic chaos in front of the Lotus Temple and they confirmed that some stones on the temple wall did appear yellow, which may be due to exposure to pollution. The report is alarming and we hope necessary action will be taken.
