Artificial intelligence can be used in a wide variety of practical applications – from the medical field to internet tech giants. In this post, we will explore if Bitlanders is also employing AI in some of its operations.

Submitted and Rated Blogs Matter

Before going to AI and its practical applications, we will first look at a very important aspect of the site. Seasoned members of the site probably know this, but for newbies and relatively new members, it is worth knowing that submitting blog posts for review that will eventually be rated is crucial to boost one's buzz score.

Of course, a high buzz score also follows higher earnings. However, in this post, I won't go in the nitty gritty details on how to raise a member's base stats since there is an entire FAQ subsection dedicated solely for that topic. Instead, this post is a follow through on what was mentioned on the Querlo chat included on my last post.

In that Querlo I stated that I will be discussing next an important aspect of AI -- and that is using artificial intelligence for practical applications.

Does Bitlanders uses AI?

So for a site that promotes artificial intelligence, let us try to determine if Bitlanders uses AI since artificial intelligence can be configured for cyclic operations.

As can be remembered in my previous blog, it was defined there that one of AI’s key objectives is to simulate human cognitive function. Such functions may include decision making capacity, problem solving capability, etc...

But aside from Querlo, at what other aspect of Bitlanders can it apply artificial intelligence? That is indeed a good question and one plausible answer would have to be when reviewing submitted blogs.

Wait! What?

Does Bitlanders uses artificial intelligence when reviewing submitted blogs?

If you have been paying attention and reading up to this point, then you will know that the aweZome jikZ is not entirely sure about the answer too. Fortunately, this is exactly the reason why we are here and trying to figure out the answer together. To do this, we would be using my last post (Topic 001: An Introduction to Artifical Intelligence Blogging) as an example.

If you will visit that particular blog, you might notice that the content is of high quality, and the formatting complies (in a certain sort of way) with professional writing styles. Basically, it is informative yet easy to understand. Unlike other posts that one may find containing lots of fluff just to inflate the word count -- mine is concise and direct to the point in understanding artificial intelligence.

Rated 2S (Two Stars)

Despite its excellent AI-themed content, the post’s rating only received two stars. If I understand the review correctly, it says that the pictures, videos, word count, and tags are not sufficient enough to warrant a higher rating.

Sadly, I didn't know that maximizing what was allowed in the guideline might equate to a higher rating. For the benefit of those who are not aware, here are some important things to know when submitting a blog for review:

  • Word count must not be less than 300
  • Use paragraphs
  • Maximum of 10 photos
  • Maximum of 2 videos
  • Maximum of 10 related tags

Apparently, my last submitted blog did not fully satisfy some of the bullets above even though it has an awesome AI topic.

If we compute using straightforward subtraction and applying simple logic, it would look something like this: 5 (the highest rating a post can get) minus 3 would equal to 2 -- ergo only 2 stars for my last post.

Human vs AI when reviewing a blog post

At last, we have come to the juiciest part of this post. Let’s see AI was used in my last post as a practical application. Based on the previous section, it would seem like it.

It is possible that the artificial intelligence code is written that if a certain condition is not met, a star would be deducted. Naturally, this indeed makes a lot of sense since Bitlanders is promoting artificial intelligence and what better way to do it by applying AI on some operations of the site.

But does this mean totally no human intervention? Unfortunately, this would be quite hard to determine as it can be a combination of both. For example, even though blogs are passed through and scanned by the AI code, a final review or checking can still be done by a human.

In conclusion, I am guessing that for my last blog, it was initially scanned by an AI code which is steered to conform to some threshold but is still final reviewed by a human.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

In a company perspective, applying artificial intelligence for practical applications is a great thing. Just imagine in the case of Bitlanders, the site has thousands of members and if we assume that 30% of them would be submitting blogs to be reviewed, that would mean hundreds of items to be looked at and read by the team. This would obviously exhaust time and manpower resources if there is no AI injected on its operation,

Always remember that artificial intelligence is written to perform the same tasks and output as that of a human. If a Bitlanders editorial/review staff follows certain strictures, and these considerations are to be applied across all submitted posts for review – then a code can be written to produce an output that will assist the human when giving out ratings.

Not only will it save up on resources, but ratings would also be more uniform. This may even avoid arguments when two identical posts will be having different rating.

Control is the Key!

But here is some piece of advice – when implementing artificial intelligence for practical applications, it is important to have controls to ensure effective and efficient result. Tweaking thresholds is normal for any system of control.

Applying artificial intelligence to do the repetitive tasks or to produce output based on predefined parameters will considerably save both time and resource. However, it is essential to fine-tune or revisit the thresholds from time to time to cope it up with the times.

If you want to learn more about artificial intelligence and some of its practical applications, feel free to interact with the Querlo chat below:

Key Takeaways

In this section, we shall recap the important aspects contained in the post

1. Implementing Artificial Intelligence for repetitive task

Artificial intelligence can be applied to produce output of cyclic tasks. By writing an AI code that is injected with a set of common predefined conditions that will yield an expected result, it will make performing the manual tasks more standard, efficient, and effective.

2. Artificial intelligence can be used for practical applications for the same reasons stated in item 1

3. Querlo, the chat blogging arm of Bitlanders, already uses AI

That's just about it. You too can join this wonderful community and discuss about Artificial Intelligence. We'll see you around and thanks for dropping by.
