Child-friendly court in the state of Telangana

Posted on at

.Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act-2012 of India has recommended a child-friendly court with features like separate waiting rooms video camera trial for the accused across all states at the earliest in the interest of children in need of care. But unfortunately most of the states in India have not so far been able to comply with the mandate of POSCO excepting Goa and national capital Delhi. It is nice to know that another state in the country has joined the rally and it is the south-Indian state of Telangana. The 'child-friendly' courtroom in the state was jointly inaugurated at the Nampally Criminal Courts Complex in Hyderabad by Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan of High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad and Director General of Telangana .The Telangana state has thus become the first south-Indian state and the third state of the country to have dedicated children court.
