In the beginning sir syed tried to remove differences between the hindus and the muslims and endeavored top create unity among them hindu students were admitted and hindu teachers were recruirted in muslims institutions but he was dis appointed by the campaign of hindus for promotion of hindi language in contrast to urdu hindus wanted hindi as an official language the controversy between hindi and urdu changed sir syed mind and he developed his political strategy on the nbasis of muslim identity it was the beginning of two nation theory sir syed was the first muslim leader who used the term nation for the muslim of the sub continent because of their separate religious entity threre distinct civilization philosophy culture moral values and concept of ecomomy after sir syed ahmed a number of muslim leader of the sub continent like abdul haleem sharar molana m ali johar chowdhry rehmat ali and etc also declared that the muslims were a separate nations quaid e azam said india is neither a country nor its  in habitant a nation this is a sub continent.
