Even if inflation exceeds its limits today still people do not forget to shop during the festive season. Diwali festival lasts five days. It begins from Dhanteras. The festival concluding with the worship of Dhanvantari and God Kuber is a reflection of the splendor even today. Dhanteras is celebrated on thirteenth day of Krishn paksh of Kartik month as per Indian Hindu Calendar. Dnwantri today appeared at the time of Samudra Manthan. Day is also celebrated as the birthday of Dnwantri, the god of Ayurveda. Lamps are donated at the worship place of home for Lord Kuber to get prosperity and at the main gate of home for god of death ‘Yamraj’. It is a tradition to buy especially pot and gold and silver on the day of Dhanteras. When and how did the festival begin buying pot, there is no definitive proof, but according to recognition, Dhanwantri was born with Amrit Kalash (Pot with elixir) in the hands. That’s why people consider the day auspicious to buy pot. But now people buy anything like electronic goods, car and furniture etc.
