He was born on April 7, 1920, at Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh into an orthodox, well-off Bengali Brahmin family. Pandit Ravi Shankar is a Sitar Maestro and one of the most famed legends of the 20th century. 
The legendary Sitarist and composer have contributed enormously to the world music institution and he has added many golden pages to the history of Indian classical music. The tune of his sitar crossed the seven seas. George Harrison has been a great admirer.

He has been under guidance of Ustad Allaudin Khan and he had to undergo very hard trainings under Ustad. This made him a great legend.
