Dr. Abdul Sattar Edhi is a Pakistani most respected philanthropist known for humanitarian work and world renowned figure for his international humanitarian work. He is the founder and chair person of the Edhi Foundation, a non-profit social welfare organization. Edhi foundation is founded in 1951. Edhi foundation branches are spread in all over the world. Edhi foundation works round the clock without discriminating anyone on the basis of color, language, religion or politics because of humanity only.
His wife, Bilquis Edhi is also a very kind personality is the Foundation chief of Edhi foundation and working with her husband from many years. In 1986, the kind couple has received an award for Public Service Department (Ramon Magsaysay Award). He has also received many other awards like Lenin Peace Prize and the Balzan prize. They also strongly dislike it when people appreciate them or their work. They don’t receive assistance from the government because they believe that their support is conditional.

According to Guinness World Record Book 2000, Edhi foundation is the Largest Voluntary Ambulance Organization of the World.
Today, Edhi Foundation has rapidly grown. Edhi says while looking to the future that he wants to build hospitals after every 500 kilometers in Pakistan. He never took holidays from his work and works for the longest hours, this is its self a world record.
