Favoritism?

"I am Kristel Mallari, a Filipino citizen, who would rather choose to fail with honor than win by cheating".

This is just a part of her salutatory speech, that according to reports, she was interrupted while delivering it, cut to be exact.

What had happened that stirred something in her school to the point of stopping her in delivering her speech?

The complete speech that was posted on line says something. Favoring someone, and be treated unfairly.

Favoritism has always been in the system in almost every school in the country. I might have not been in "favor" or "unfairly treated", but i know for a fact that it does exist. The practice that has been with most of the schools.

From siblings, down to my nieces and nephews, to a college friend who just wanted to graduate with honor. I don't know how this practice have started, but it has to be stopped. It was not those students that has been affected, even their parents.

Losing hope, and faith towards the system, esteem might be gone too.

But is there anything that we can do about it?

Maybe none for now, all we can do is to take what had happened as a challenge, be successful and happy.
