Government of India is reported to have taken an ambitious policy of transforming 90,000 kms of its national highways into green corridors. So, it has taken a decision that one per cent of cost in construction of roads will go towards planting trees and other things. In a bid to achieve this goal, the government is going to create 1,000 contractors in the country, will have their own nurseries. They will plant new trees and create a green area on national highways. So, if it can be implemented, it will have a positive impact on the much needed conservation of environment.
