I'll try to make this post as small as possible and meaningful. So basically
in Islam if you want to make a promise or swear, you do it ONLY by Allah's names because we need to swear by something that is Great and Holy. Many people swear by other than Allah for example: My mom, my dead mom, my father's life, the prophet, The Quran and etc.
But it is all HARAM because the Prophet Salallahu Alaihi wassalam said Whoever swears by other than Allah has indeed committed Shirk.
Evidence: the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever swears an oath, let him not swear by anything except by Allah, or else let him remain silent.”
And he said: “Whoever swears by anything other than Allah has associated something with Him (shirk).”
