A very common practice of medical professionals everywhere across the world is to use a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) like omeprazole in the management of peptic ulcer syndrome (PUS) or gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD).Moreover, these kinds of drugs are offered over the counter for conditions like heartburn or acid reflux. Of late, a study conducted by Stanford University researchers reveals link PPI use to an about 20 percent increased chance of heart attack in patients diagnosed with heartburn. So, people must be aware of this fact while using such drugs.
