Jay Prakash Narayan was a freedom fighter and Gandhian leader. In the time of Indira Gandhi , he was the leader of politicians who were opposing Indira Gandhi. Simple , justice loving leader who got title of “LokNayak”. In 1998 , Jay Prakash Narayan got Bharat Ratna.

He was born on 11th Oct , 1902 in Bihar. His father’s name was Harsudayal Srivastava and his mother was Phul Rani Devi. For his studies he came to Patna at age of 19.He completed his studies in 1918. During his studies he read many books. He joined freedom fighting movement after getting inspired from Bhartendu Harishchandra.

He got married in 1920 and after marriage , he involved in freedom fighting movement in Patna. He faced issue to continue freedom fighting along with his wife so he started living in Gandhi Asharam. He went abroad for higher studies in 1922 and he did M.A. in socialism. In 1929 , he came back from abroad and took part in freedom fighting along with Gandhi. In 1934, Leaders got arrested from Madras and from jail leaders created one party called Congress Socialist Party.

He lead the movement against British during second world war in 1939. He also tried to solve the issue between Gandhi and Subhash Chandra Bose. He got absconded from jail in 1942 Quit India movement.

He was great leader who came in politics to serve country rather than to serve himself.
