Job security in an Online Job

Posted on at

Today, the idea of job security in a virtual environment is virtually non-existent. The traditional idea of getting hired for life does not hold true in an online job, if there is an exception, it is extremely rare. The choice of keeping the same job for as long as you desired seems completely out of control, or is it?

Security is one of Maslow's hierarchy of needs, second only to our physiological needs. In a brick and mortar environment, job security is done in the form of tenure or other long-term contract. Finding this kind of job security in an online environment is extremely rare. However, if job security is viewed as the ability to land a desired job, not necessarily the same job, and not necessarily for the same organization, then job security is both readily available within your control in an online marketplace. Here are a few ways to increase your chances of finding a job online:

* Be marketable

* Have a backup plan

* Do your job the best you can.

* Keep up with the times.
