Tropical storms played havoc across Bangladesh on Thursday by killing more than 30 people. The northwest of the country was the worst hit as at least 19 people killed in Pabna, Rajshahi, Sirajganj and Brahmanbaria districts. Most of the deaths were due to lightning strikes. The victims were mainly farmers who were struck by lightning as they were returning home after day's work. Unofficial sources claim the nationwide death toll to be 42.
