You are being transferred from one city to another city and you are worried about changing the mobile number. You will not have to worry about it. Mobile numbers portability (MNP)  at the country level has been cleared to be applied. Telecom Commission on 15th Oct, 2014 passed an important resolution. The mobile client, going to another telecom circle from current one, will be able to maintain their old mobile number despite taking the second mobile company service. The MNP service is currently limited to just the customer's own circle. It is believed that the Department of Telecom (DoT) may give instructions to implement it from March 2015. The decision was pending since the UPA government's tenure. It is believed that the decision was delayed for quite a long time because of under pressure of telecom firms. NDA Government has implemented pending a decision since the tenure of the UPA. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had been trying to implement it last year. However, after the decision pressure will be increased between the mobile service providers to retain customers. However, after the approval of Telecom Commission proposal will be sent to Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad. Sources say that Prasad would like to introduce itself as soon as possible.
