Tribes in India: “Chenchu”

Chenchus are the Tribes of religion Hindu. They are found in the Central Hills stations of Andhra Pradesh.
Chenchus are the Aboriginal Tribe who still consider hunting for their livelihood rather than farming. Selling meat is one of their major activity. Their food consists of gruel made from maize, and boiled or cooked jungle tubers. They mix tamarind fruit with tamarind. The Caste Hindu which lives with Chenchus take Chenchus land on rent and pay by giving a portion of their harvest to Chenchus. They are the food gathering tribe who mostly speak Telgu.
The Chenchus collect jungle products like roots, fruits, tubers, beedi leaf, mohua flower, honey, gum, tamarind and green leaves and make a income of it by selling these to traders and government cooperatives.
Self-Reliant, the Chenchus have learned various small arts, like craftsmanship, to make their lives easier. On the other hand, Chenchus prefer to do most of their things on their own.
The Chenchus have good faith in various Gods and Goddesses. The Lingamayya, a form of Lord Shiva, a Hindu Deity and the Goddess Maisamma - the Shakti are the most revered ones. Lord Hanuman is also the main God.
