Petra is the one of the new wonders of the world. Some of the first recorded farmers urbanized in Beidha in north of Petra nearby 7000 BCE. Petra is also mentioned in Egyptian movement accounts and the Amarna letters. Although the city was founded comparatively late, a refuge has existed there since very primeval times. This division of the country was biblically assigned to the predecessors of the Edomites called Horites. The practice of the original inhabitants may have prejudiced the Nabataean ritual of burying the dead and presenting worship in partly excavated caves. Although Petra is usually recognized with Sela means a rock. The Biblical reference pass on to it as "the slash in the rock", referring to its entry. The Petra region was not essentially the site itself was occupied by Edomites  but according to tradition, in ca. 1200 BCE, the region was known as Edom. Before the Israelite invasion, the Edomites controlled the trade routes from Arabia to Damascus. A slight is known about the Edomites at Petra itself, however an inhabitants they were recognized for their wisdom, textile industry, writing,  the excellence and fineness of their ceramic. Nowadays this site suffer from the threats of collapsing and erosion.
