Poor medical treatment in Afghanistan

Posted on at

Thirty year of conflict in Afghanistan has left country health care system at verge of destruction and struggling to cope. Many clinics are facing shortage of doctors and other facilities.Despite fall of Taliban regime and efforts of international community, yet country health care system has failed to facilitate patients.

Pakistan and India is people popular choice when it comes to medical treatment.People prefer visiting these countries because of excellent facilities specially Pakistan having adjacent border and near to Afghanistan.Peshawar welcomes thousand of Afghan patients on daily basis.Rehman Medical Institute and NorthWest general hospitals are people choice seeking medical treatments.

35 year old businessman from Kabul had to take his father to Rehman Medical Institute.According to Hashmat khan "My father is heart patient and I had to bring him to Peshawar for medical treatment.I am happy with the facilities provided to us in the hospital. My father is feeling well now".

Hospitals in Peshawar are earning handsome amount of money.According to hospital officials, we are treating more than 1000 patients on daily basis coming from Afghanistan. We are providing them rooms for staying at night.Afghan people visit from far areas to consult our expert doctors. One time consultancy charges is 14.5$.

International aid groups like red cross are trying to fill the gap and provide quality treatment but still efforts are not sufficient to make it easy for people.People specially in rural areas do not have access to medical facilities.According to Red cross official, we are putting our 100% but yet there is room for improvement. We need quality doctors and other staff to run hospitals in efficient way.

Pakistan and India are turning out to be people first choice when it comes to health care.Afghanistan government along with international aid agencies are building hospitals to provide treatment in Afghanistan but that projects are still in pipeline and it will take time.
